Drawing and exploring on waterscapes within the Murray Darling and venturing afar to the regions of Eastern Australia (and beyond) has allowed me an arts practice where the studio is often outdoors, or at least to begin with. The work then moves between the inland rivers and back into my studio in Brisbane taking on the forms of drawings, prints, artist books and drawing animations.
I am currently co producer of Yimbaya Maranoa Arts Collective based on the Maranoa River Queensland. It's here where a group of First Nations and non-Indigenous artists, writers, weavers and musicians gather and camp each year- we are all drawn to the sand based river, the artesian waters that flow beneath and the sites that have a close connection to the stories we need to share and to understand ourselves. The collective acknowledge the Gunggari and neighbouring Bidjara Mandandanji Kooma Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Maranoa Region.
Acknowledging the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters where I work and live and pay respects to the Elders past present and emerging.
