Doing what we do: Recording, drawing, exploration and play.
Yimbaya Maranoa is a First Nations-led Arts Collective initiated through conversations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Maranoa residents and artists in 2018. The creative group formed soon after because of their connections to the Maranoa which continue to inspire and draw them back to the river. The collective provides a rare creative opportunity for artists and audiences to experience the resonant echoes of a culturally active interdisciplinary collaboration from the Maranoa while celebrating place as an evolving story.
The collective is co-facilitated by Traditional Custodians Vernessa Fien, Vicki Saunders, in conjunction with artist Jude Taggart and Cultural mentors Saraeva Mitchell, Aunty Lynette Nixon, and realised through the group formerly known as the Remapping Mitchell Arts Collective. 2 sites with more information; https://eartharts.org.au/earth-arts-collective/yimbaya-maranoa/ https://magsq.com.au/gallery-and-museum-achievement-awards/gamaa-2024/gamaa-2024-projects-organisations-volunteer-run/
